Donald Trump Jr. Faces Backlash After Comparing Syrian Refugees to Skittles That ‘Would
Kill You’
Donald Trump Jr. is facing intense backlash on social media after he posted a message on Twitter Monday night that compared Syrian refugees to a bowl of Skittles sprinkled with a few that “would kill you.” Social media users shared images of bombing victims in the region, including Omran Daqnees, the bloodstained, dust-coated boy who was shown sitting in an ambulance after an airstrike and who became a symbol of the suffering in Aleppo, Syria. The war in Syria has killed over 400,000 people and has uprooted nearly five million making this assumption by Trump Jr. very inappropriate and offensive. Last month, the United States said it had met its goal for the year, welcoming its 10,000th Syrian refugee doing its part in helping hardships that are occuring in Syria every day. Donald Trump Jr. was also criticized this month for evoking Holocaust imagery in criticisms about the news media after he posted an image of Pepe the Frog, a popular alt-right symbol or meme among the youth in America. This is outburst, in my opinion, is very rude and inappropriate hinting that the Trump campaign does not care of the immagrants that work their ass off to get into this country and have new opportunities.
